In 2012, my brother and I embarked on a journey to create Enchanted Fairies – to capture once-in-a-lifetime moments that become powerful stories. I couldn’t imagine how many incredible families would walk through our doors and be willing to share their stories.
This brings me to Valerie and Sophia. Valerie’s story is a poignant mix of challenges and triumphs. Her daughter, Sophia, diagnosed with cerebral palsy and other life-altering conditions, faces daily obstacles that most of us can barely imagine.
We connected with Valerie through our partnership with Kids Kids, an organization founded by the late Kid Craddock, dedicated to supporting children and families grappling with life-threatening conditions. Valerie and Sophia’s journey touched us deeply, and we felt compelled to create something special for them!
We had the honor of welcoming Valerie and Sophia to our Enchanted Fairies Studio in San Antonio, Texas. This visit was a chance for them to create beautiful memories and capture the radiant light and happiness that Sophia brings, despite the challenges she faces.
Sophia’s resilience is nothing short of inspiring. Despite her physical challenges, she has a deep love for horseback riding—a passion that has remained steadfast even as her condition made it increasingly difficult to pursue. To honor this love, we organized a special photo session at Fine Print Farms in San Antonio, Texas, where Sophia could mount a horse once again after years.
At Enchanted Fairies, we believe in the transformative power of photography to capture and immortalize these precious moments. After our session with Valerie and Sophia, we created a storybook that celebrates their journey, strength, and love. This book is more than just a collection of images; it’s a tribute to the incredible spirit of a mother and daughter who refuse to let life’s challenges define them.
