Knight Photography Sessions guide
Building Bravery
When we created the Knight Photography Sessions, it wasn’t just thinking about a nice picture. We were thinking about how to make a child feel ten feet tall. We wanted to build an experience that you simply cannot recreate in a living room. It needed to be a rite of passage.
We designed an immersive Enchanted Forest set that feels like stepping into a storybook. When your child arrives, we dress them in our signature Knight’s Wardrobe. If you are visiting our Plano location, we also have specialized vests available. The goal is to strip away the “ordinary” feeling of a regular day and replace it with a genuine sense of adventure.
It’s amazing to watch the shift happen. A child might arrive holding their parent’s leg, feeling a bit shy. But once they put on the tunic and step onto the set, they change. They stand straighter. That internal confidence is exactly what we capture.
Tools of the Trade
To make that confidence real, the environment has to be authentic, which is why we don’t use flimsy toys but rather cinematic props. When we hand your child a shield or a sword, they immediately feel the magic as it sits in their hands. That magic helps them ground themselves and discover their strength to become the hero of their own story.
We have a variety of props to match your child’s personality:
- The Warrior: A heavy blade and shield for the child who wants to feel powerful.
- The Ranger: A wooden bow and arrow for the focused, observant child.
- The Explorer: A lighted lantern or treasure chest for the child who loves mystery.
- The Mystic: A magic orb for the child who prefers a quieter kind of magic.
We guide them through these choices naturally. You don’t need to bring anything but your child and their imagination.
No Posing Required
I know the word “posing” can sound intimidating for a little one. That is why we don’t really do it. Instead, we treat the session like a guided story. Our photographers are experts at working with all temperaments, from the high-energy adventurer to the quiet observer.
We might ask your child to “protect the forest” or “search for the hidden fairies” with their lantern. By giving them a mission, we take the pressure off. They stop thinking about the camera and start focusing on the fun. That is when we get those focused, fierce expressions.
My absolute favorite part is the “That’s Me?” moment. This happens when you view the photos and your child sees themselves looking like a true hero. That image becomes a permanent reminder that they are capable of doing hard things.
Join Us in the Forest
We are proud to have grown from a single studio to 36 locations nationwide. Whether you visit us in Seattle, Houston, Minneapolis, or our flagship in Plano, you will find the same magical set waiting for you.
We also believe that bravery means helping others. That is why a portion of every session goes toward our mission of giving back. We have donated over $3 million to children’s charities because we want to spread that magic as far as we can. You can find your nearest studio on our Enchanted Fairies locations page.
